Grasshopper is going to reveal Frog Minutes, their first iOS game in support of Japanese relief efforts, at their March 30th Grasstream 2 event. We know nothing about the game outside of its logo, as seen on Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu's website, and that all of the proceeds for the game will go to the Red Cross in support of the Japanese earthquake victims.

Nintendo Software Technology, best known for Wave Race: Blue Storm and the Mario vs. Donkey Kong DS games, is an American branch that doesn't seem to have much luck getting games approved. They have had at least two games, Wii Crush and Project H.A.M.M.E.R, cancelled this console generation and now we might have a third to add to that list. They were working on a game where you controlled a motorcycle by using the Wii Remote and nunchuck as handlebars, optionally using the Wii Balance Board to lean in to tight turns. The game was played from the driver's perspective and featured ramps that allowed player's to get some air, further allowing them to manipulate their trajectory with motion controls. It would be an interesting idea to see come to fruition, so I hope the game sees a reveal this e3. But I'm not holding my breath. Source: Siliconera Are you ready for glasses free 3D gaming? I know this is what I have always said was needed to take 3D past being a gimmick, but I was still skeptical. Until I actually played with the device. You won't understand how truly amazing the device is until you get it in your hands either. It might even take you a minute once you do have it in your hands, the picture at first appears blurry. But after a few seconds your eyes will focus and you too will experience 3D like you never have before. As you swoop your aircraft around the Wuhu Island in Pilot Wings Resort, threading between trees and houses you will really appreciate the level of depth this technology provides the game. I was simply amazed- and I think you will be too. Good luck getting one tomorrow, I hope you have one reserved!
Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime will be a guest on Jimmy Fallon's show tonight, something that might be worth sitting through that awful show for. Reggie will surely show off the 3DS to the general populace and might have an announcement up his sleeve as well, who knows. But probably not.
In what seems like a cruel joke, Take-Two has announced that Duke Nukem Forever will be delayed once more. The one liner spouting, woman grabbing Duke won't be strutting his stuff on your console of choice until June 10th abroad and the 14th here in America. We've waited nearly 15 years, I think we can wait a few more months at this point.
"What are you waiting for? Christmas?" This might be how you remember Resident Evil 4 looking, but it is actually an HD screen from Resident Evil: Revival Selection due out on both XBLA and PSN this Fall. HD versions of both Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica will be available on the downloadable services for an as of yet undetermined price. It is unclear whether or not the U.S. will be getting a bundled retail version like Japan.
SEGA is currently auctioning off 20 pieces of unique, one-of-a-kind merchandise in support of Play for Japan, with much more to come. 100% of the proceeds from the auctions will be donated to the American Red Cross to support the organization in its efforts to aid and assist Japan. Here are a few of the items up for auction:
Square Enix announced earlier today that a new division focused entirely on mobile games named Hippos Lab began operations earlier this month. They only got started March 7th, but will apparently have their first game ready for release very soon. I am hoping for a game starring the hippo in the logo. Did you know that hippos are considered by many to be the most dangerous animal in Africa? Maybe we could see an extreme "hardcore" game out of this announcement after all. Source: Gamasutra Surprise! Nintendo has decided to call their 3DS download service 3DSWare. Nintendo's Greek website now has a logo for 3DSWare alongside links for WiiWare and DSiWare. Interesting, you would think Nintendo might want to start fresh after the lackluster performance of DsiWare, but then again there are only so many things you can call a digital download service.
Ready at Dawn is best known for their great PSP support, but the jobs section of their website hints that they are about to make a splash on the console scene as well. Here is a snippet from their job posting:
"Are you ready to work on an exciting new AAA IP for the home console? Ready At Dawn is working on a 3rd Person Action Adventure and is looking for talented, motivated and self-directed developers to join our team." I am really curious as to what this project is. If you follow the studio at all you would know that they have been working on a console project for over two years now, as shown in this Joystiq article. I fully expect this game to be earth shattering. |
