Lilt Line developer Different Cloth has revealed that the game has only reached half of the sales required on WiiWare to be paid for the game by Nintendo. The iOS version sold 3,815 units, whereas US WiiWare sales of just 3,756 copies. The game only costs $2.99 on iPhone and $5 on Wiiware, leaving me surprised that the numbers are as close as they are. I chalk it up to the game's publisher, Gaijin Games, having a small but extremely devoted fan base on the service. If you are interested in retro rhythm action definitely give Lilt Line a shot- I like to give my support to developers who try to provide quality experiences in the mobile space.
If you can stomach playing Street Fighter IV with a touchscreen Capcom's got a deal for you- for the next week the game will be on sale for $.99 in the app store. All proceeds will be going to the Japanese earthquake relief efforts, so hopefully this deal will make your decision to help out those in need even easier.
Earlier today Engadget broke news that a Sony tablet PC codenamed "S1" was in development. The Playstation Suite certified device is rumored to sport a 9.4 inch screen with a a 1,280 x 800 pixel display powered by a Tegra 2 processor. Like the Xperia Play it will run off of a modified version of the Android operating system. The "S1" is said to come preloaded with several PS1 titles and features PS3 remote play capability. Non-gaming related features include the peculiar curved design that apparently makes it easier to type on when used on a flat surface. It is also said to include a Bravia Media Remote and may possibly support Sony's Qriocity media service. Sony potentially has their hands full with 3 devices in the mobile gaming market now with the NGP, the Xperia Play and now the "S1". Is there any chance these devices will cannibalize each others sales?
Source: Engadget Sony has finally officially announced what could be the worst kept secret of the year, the Xperia Play, formerly known as the Playstation Phone. The phone will come pre-loaded with one secret PS1 classic, with several others available on the Android Marketplace exclusively for the Xperia Play. Over 20 publishers are readying content for the device and nearly 50 titles will be available for the device's launch in March. The Xperia will be available in both black and white, will include a 5.1 megapixel camera and 400MB of internal memory and a 8GB microSD memory card. The Xperia Play will also be one of the first devices to support Android 2.3. Sorry AT&T fans, Verizon will be carrying the Xperia play first when it launches this spring.
Capcom Mobile's MaXplosion bears more than a passing resemblance to Twisted Pixel's 'Splosion Man for Xbox Live Arcade. In fact it looks like the same game with a palette swap. The most interesting part is that Twisted Pixel's CEO Michael Wilford stated on Twitter that they had originally pitched 'Splosion Man to Capcom but had been declined. Unfortunately Twisted Pixel is just too small to take a publishing giant like Capcom to court, but we can do our part by voting with our dollars. Twisted Pixel isn't going to take this completely lying down however, Wilford has also tweeted the following, "Guess we're just gonna have to make a better iPhone game than them. Shouldn't be hard." I would greatly appreciate a Twisted Pixel game on the iPhone- some good may come from this blatant plagiarism after all! |
