In 2009 Nintendo submitted a patent for an LED light projection device that sat atop the television set and allowed players to get a visual indicator as to how well they were playing a game or create a certain mood within the room. The device is apparently capable of displaying 256 colors in different patterns and intensities. The lights were able to sync with instruments and would reflect how well you were playing by pulsating to the beat. Seems cool, but wouldn't that mess with the Wii remote's IR pointer?

Pandora Tower is hitting Wii May 26th in Japan. Developed by Ganbarion, a developer known best for JUMP Superstars, and published by Nintendo Pandora Tower looks to be a surprise gem that will feed many gamer's hungry Wii. Lets just hope it sees release in the U.S.
Nintendo gets a lot of flack from gamers for not having a very "hardcore" gaming line up. Nintendo is partly to blame for that perception. They refuse to localize games like Disaster: Day of Crisis, Xenoblade, Fatal Frame IV and many more, but continue to publish games like Wii Party. What hurts even more is to find out that there were even more core oriented games in development early on in the system's life that could have helped to change its perception entirely. Here are the top five Wii games I wish hadn't been canceled. Read more here You might think Nintendo has nothing to worry about from Apple. The house that Mario built is at the top of their game, riding the wave of success the DS and Wii has brought them. Apple doesn't even make games, whereas Nintendo makes some of the best out there. But the problem actually lies in where Nintendo found this recent surge in popularity: the casual gamer.
Read more here From Software, developer of 3D Dot Game Heroes for PS3, has announced that they are working on a remake of the original Legend of Zelda in cooperation with Nintendo to celebrate the franchise's 25th anniversary. The developer was approached soon after the release of 3D Dot Game Heroes due to its close resemblance to the Zelda games of yesteryear. Many gamers have been pining for a return to the free-form nature of the original Zelda and From Software has made it their goal to recapture that sense of exploration. They also promise modern polish and enough updates to surprise even the most dedicated of fans, while still maintaining close ties with the source material. The Legend of Zelda DX will launch simultaneously for both Wii and 3DS November 18th 2011- just in time for the holidays.
Monolith's latest RPG, Xenoblade, is finally making it to Europe. The game will feature both English and Japanese voice overs in case the voice acting doesn't turn out to your liking. The game got rave reviews from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu so I am glad that more people will finally get to try it out. The game sounds amazing, the concept of the overworld taking place on the corpses of two ancient gods is pretty... interesting. I hope the fact that this is being translated to English means it will get a U.S. announcement soon, but then again Disaster: Day of Crisis also had an English translation. Hopefully I can update this story soon with some more good news.
Official English Site Update: Nintendo of America has purchased the domain for xenobladechronicles.com, which currently directs you to Nintendo's website. During Grasshopper Manufacture's Grasstream 2 event Suda 51 commented on the possibility of No More Heroes 3, saying that would like to do another one... but not anytime soon. This would make sense given his previous statements about waiting for the Wii's successor to bring out another sequel. That day can't come soon enough, I can't get enough beam katana action!
Nintendo Software Technology, best known for Wave Race: Blue Storm and the Mario vs. Donkey Kong DS games, is an American branch that doesn't seem to have much luck getting games approved. They have had at least two games, Wii Crush and Project H.A.M.M.E.R, cancelled this console generation and now we might have a third to add to that list. They were working on a game where you controlled a motorcycle by using the Wii Remote and nunchuck as handlebars, optionally using the Wii Balance Board to lean in to tight turns. The game was played from the driver's perspective and featured ramps that allowed player's to get some air, further allowing them to manipulate their trajectory with motion controls. It would be an interesting idea to see come to fruition, so I hope the game sees a reveal this e3. But I'm not holding my breath. Source: Siliconera Are you ready for glasses free 3D gaming? I know this is what I have always said was needed to take 3D past being a gimmick, but I was still skeptical. Until I actually played with the device. You won't understand how truly amazing the device is until you get it in your hands either. It might even take you a minute once you do have it in your hands, the picture at first appears blurry. But after a few seconds your eyes will focus and you too will experience 3D like you never have before. As you swoop your aircraft around the Wuhu Island in Pilot Wings Resort, threading between trees and houses you will really appreciate the level of depth this technology provides the game. I was simply amazed- and I think you will be too. Good luck getting one tomorrow, I hope you have one reserved!
Surprise! Nintendo has decided to call their 3DS download service 3DSWare. Nintendo's Greek website now has a logo for 3DSWare alongside links for WiiWare and DSiWare. Interesting, you would think Nintendo might want to start fresh after the lackluster performance of DsiWare, but then again there are only so many things you can call a digital download service.
