In other news, Nintendo has announced that both Wii Party and Wii Sports Resort would now be available for $39.99. I'm not sure whether that price goes in to effect for bundled software, Wii Party can be found with a Wii Remote bundled in and Wii Sports Resort with the Motion Plus attachment, but either way those are pretty good deals. Something is brewing in Nintendoland...
Retailers across the U.S. have now cut the Wii's price to $170, in advance of the rumored May 15th price cut. Are they responding to rumors of the Wii's successor, or do they have insider information from Nintendo?

IGN then hopped on the rumor train and said that console will be able to support 1080p and will be significantly more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PS3. I know I will personally be happy as long as it can run 1080p at 60 FPS. CVG has added even more fuel to the fire by saying that the controller will have a built in HD screen. Sounds a bit cost prohibitive and completely unlike Nintendo to me. I expect the console to use the Wii Remote Plus, with a small upgrade built in- the vitality sensor built in like the grips you see on exercise equipment at the gym. It's a bit odd that all of this news happened to come out today, is Nintendo really talking to third parties and trying to build up support for a strong launch? I hope so. I think the majority of this is just speculation due to the recent Wii price drop rumor. We probably won't know for sure until Nintendo's e3 press conference in early June.
Nintendo has announced a sequel to one of the best selling games of all time, Wii Play. Wii Play was a big hit with consumers due to being a great deal. While many video game reviewers couldn't understand the appeal of a $10 batch of fun mini-games bundled with a controller, just about everyone else did. Wii Play: Motion will come with the Wii Remote Plus controller and feature twelve new mini-games that take advantage of added the level of control added by the motion plus device. Look for it in stores June 13th. Via Press Release A week prior to the game's release on Xbox 360 and PS3, Ubisoft has revealed that Michael Jackson: The Experience has sold 3 million copies globally on the Wii, DS and PSP. The HD versions of the game will feature upgraded graphics, some new songs and full body tracking on Kinect. The game didn't play all that well before and given my prior experience with Kinect dancing games I can't say I am confident that the peripheral is going to help all that much. Maybe we should give Ubisoft the benefit of the doubt and believe that they somehow managed to pull off something on Dance Central's level, but chances are that isn't going to happen.
Sega announced that they were revealing a new Sonic trailer at 6 a.m. PST on their twitter earlier today. Could this be the oft rumored Sonic Anniversary collection, featuring modernized versions of Sonic's greatest levels from the Genesis days? If so I hope they don't "modernize" the physics engine. Or is it just going to be the official reveal of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2? I would personally prefer something more in line with last year's Sonic Colors on Wii, the best 3D Sonic game yet. Look for the new trailer on Sonic's Facebook page tomorrow morning. In 2009 Nintendo submitted a patent for an LED light projection device that sat atop the television set and allowed players to get a visual indicator as to how well they were playing a game or create a certain mood within the room. The device is apparently capable of displaying 256 colors in different patterns and intensities. The lights were able to sync with instruments and would reflect how well you were playing by pulsating to the beat. Seems cool, but wouldn't that mess with the Wii remote's IR pointer?
Source: Silconera Pandora Tower is hitting Wii May 26th in Japan. Developed by Ganbarion, a developer known best for JUMP Superstars, and published by Nintendo Pandora Tower looks to be a surprise gem that will feed many gamer's hungry Wii. Lets just hope it sees release in the U.S.
Nintendo gets a lot of flack from gamers for not having a very "hardcore" gaming line up. Nintendo is partly to blame for that perception. They refuse to localize games like Disaster: Day of Crisis, Xenoblade, Fatal Frame IV and many more, but continue to publish games like Wii Party. What hurts even more is to find out that there were even more core oriented games in development early on in the system's life that could have helped to change its perception entirely. Here are the top five Wii games I wish hadn't been canceled. Read more here From Software, developer of 3D Dot Game Heroes for PS3, has announced that they are working on a remake of the original Legend of Zelda in cooperation with Nintendo to celebrate the franchise's 25th anniversary. The developer was approached soon after the release of 3D Dot Game Heroes due to its close resemblance to the Zelda games of yesteryear. Many gamers have been pining for a return to the free-form nature of the original Zelda and From Software has made it their goal to recapture that sense of exploration. They also promise modern polish and enough updates to surprise even the most dedicated of fans, while still maintaining close ties with the source material. The Legend of Zelda DX will launch simultaneously for both Wii and 3DS November 18th 2011- just in time for the holidays.
