Ninja Theory's Enslaved has only sold 460,000 copies worldwide across two platforms, PS3 and Xbox 360. Ouch. Namco Bandai, the publisher behind the game, is certainly disappointed by these numbers but hasn't given up on the series just yet. Lee Kirton, Namco Bandai's UK marketing director has given fans some hope of a sequel, "I can't discuss where we are in terms of a sequel, but we're looking at reviews and feedback from the press and because of the gameplay and quality that Enslaved delivered, we see it as a great catalog title going forward.(MCV)" I wish more publishers would look at games in this way, based on their potential rather than just sales. Most new I.Ps need a little time to gain attention by word of mouth, especially when the initial game isn't spectacular. Just look at the Killzone franchise. If Sony had given up after the mediocre first entry we wouldn't have the excellent games that have followed. Namco Bandai has a strong stable of fighting games, but are going to need more quality triple-A efforts to compete with the other big players in the industry. Here's hoping they have better luck next time.

This guys still don't get it (I mean Ninja Theory and Namco Bandai). The REAL reason that Enslaved has not sold as much copies as they expected is because of a TERRIBLE Marketing/Distribution strategy. Need proof? Just think about how you knew this game even existed, even better, go shopping and try to find one copy of it. I had a really difficult time trying to put my hands on this game, is as if these guys didn't want to sell any copies on purpose. It's simple marketing: if you don't expose your product to the public, it wont sale. Got it? Good, now make as many copies as possible and stop whining about the poor sales of it!!! PS: Fire all your stupid marketing executives!!!

Maybe if Ninja Theory got its head out its ass and did try to bash the PS3 in this game they would do a little better. I for one have been telling as many gamers as I can not to buy anything from NT. Im really not much a fanboy though I do prefer the PS3 I also have a 360&Wii. Its just stupid games like this that add fuel to the fire for hardcore fanboys.

I have bought both of their games for PS3 this gen and let me tell you this game deserves what ever sales it gets. Graphically, it looks worse than their first outing on the PS3. Its glitchy, its jaggy, its ugly. Which is unfortunate, as the world had potential to look beautiful. In gameplay, I glitched all the time. IT WAS NOT FINISHED. The gameplay was functional and the story was actually really good. But after all the BS that spews from their mouths in addition to putting out an unfinished game, 460,000 sounds pretty right to me.

I believe strongly what hurt this game other than poor marketing was a complete lack of replay value. Don't get me wrong i don't mean multiplayer, just a reason for players to come back and play after beating the rather short, and easy campaign. Look at bayonetta, another action oriented new IP that sold a hell of a lot better despite also having no multiplayer. I hope developers learn from this, you can't release a game I can beat in 4 hours and expect me to shell out 60 dollars for that. Its just bad economics. I hope these guys don't plan on doing this shit with my devil my cry or heads will roll.
