Both versions of Pokémon sold a combined total of 2.5 million copies, which is ridiculous considering how long the critters have been around. Many people, my own father included, thought Pokémon was a fad that would be forgotten about in a couple of months. But the games are still as popular as ever over ten years later. I haven't played a Pokémon game since Silver but have been tempted to pick one of the new ones due to all of the good things I have been hearing. I can't believe how many DS units sold, even more than the newly launched 3DS! Pokémon must be to blame. Other than that, Homefront, Dragon Age II and Crysis 2 had respectable debuts. Kinect is still doing wonders for Xbox 360 hardware sales. I really thought negative word of mouth would nip that at the bud, but I guess not. I hope these numbers will convince more developers to make games that put the Kinect peripheral to good use. And Wii sales make it look as though Nintendo might have good reason to announce a new console at e3...
