A week prior to the game's release on Xbox 360 and PS3, Ubisoft has revealed that Michael Jackson: The Experience has sold 3 million copies globally on the Wii, DS and PSP. The HD versions of the game will feature upgraded graphics, some new songs and full body tracking on Kinect. The game didn't play all that well before and given my prior experience with Kinect dancing games I can't say I am confident that the peripheral is going to help all that much. Maybe we should give Ubisoft the benefit of the doubt and believe that they somehow managed to pull off something on Dance Central's level, but chances are that isn't going to happen.

The new Sonic trailer Sega revealed this morning includes an appearance from the 90's Sonic. The non- green eyed hedgehog who used to be in good games on the Sega Genesis. Does this mean the bad Sonic games have all come from an alternate dimension and we can go back to having good ones again? It is interesting to note that there isn't a Wii version announced at the end of the trailer, does Sega have something else brewing for Nintendo fans?
Yet another developer has jumped on the social games train. Factor 5, best known for the Rogue Squadron games and the horrendous bomb that was Lair on the PS3, has announced the creation of a new studio focused on social games, TouchFactor. The studio is committed to building social games that will "bring people together on all mass market platforms." Julian Eggebrecht, former president of Factor 5, as well as several other high profile names from Factor 5 are coming together to make some of the most beautiful Facebook games ever seen. Just kidding on that last part.
via press release Sega announced that they were revealing a new Sonic trailer at 6 a.m. PST on their twitter earlier today. Could this be the oft rumored Sonic Anniversary collection, featuring modernized versions of Sonic's greatest levels from the Genesis days? If so I hope they don't "modernize" the physics engine. Or is it just going to be the official reveal of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2? I would personally prefer something more in line with last year's Sonic Colors on Wii, the best 3D Sonic game yet. Look for the new trailer on Sonic's Facebook page tomorrow morning. In 2009 Nintendo submitted a patent for an LED light projection device that sat atop the television set and allowed players to get a visual indicator as to how well they were playing a game or create a certain mood within the room. The device is apparently capable of displaying 256 colors in different patterns and intensities. The lights were able to sync with instruments and would reflect how well you were playing by pulsating to the beat. Seems cool, but wouldn't that mess with the Wii remote's IR pointer?
Source: Silconera In news that probably isn't too exciting for people who haven't used an Xbox 360 development kit as much as I have, Microsoft is offering a new kit modeled after the slim. This new model will cost less, feature more RAM and a larger hard drive as well. I know for sure that the extra RAM and hard drive space will be a great relief to developers everywhere. Does this confirm that Microsoft intends to stick with the Xbox 360 for a while?
Source: Engadget The next NBA Jam game is hitting XBLA and PSN next October and will feature new opponent AI adapted from the Fight Night titles. No word yet on a Wii version, despite the Wii version of last year's reboot selling the most. Since the game is download only t looks as though EA is going to charge much less for a sequel with even more features, so everyone wins except those who bought the game last year.
Pandora Tower is hitting Wii May 26th in Japan. Developed by Ganbarion, a developer known best for JUMP Superstars, and published by Nintendo Pandora Tower looks to be a surprise gem that will feed many gamer's hungry Wii. Lets just hope it sees release in the U.S.
No, this isn't a Reddit post. It is an actual screen grab from the new Super Meat Boy update available on Steam today. Super Meat World, featuring levels created by users and other developers is now available by pressing left on the chapter select screen. I can't wait to have my spirit destroyed by these levels- should take about ten minutes.
Nintendo gets a lot of flack from gamers for not having a very "hardcore" gaming line up. Nintendo is partly to blame for that perception. They refuse to localize games like Disaster: Day of Crisis, Xenoblade, Fatal Frame IV and many more, but continue to publish games like Wii Party. What hurts even more is to find out that there were even more core oriented games in development early on in the system's life that could have helped to change its perception entirely. Here are the top five Wii games I wish hadn't been canceled. Read more here |
