In a surprising move Capcom has announced that Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will be available as both a $40 standalone purchase and a $15 dollar download. While that is pretty steep for a couple of new fighters and added balance I am glad the option is there for people who are interested. The new content, including this particularly evil rendition of Ryu, will be available for both Xbox 360 and PS3 on June 28th in the U.S.

You might have heard that BomberGames finally released their labor of love remake of the Streets of Rage trilogy that first appeared on the Sega Genesis recently, only to quickly receive a cease and desist from Sega. Well Sega has now provided a statement as to why they made that decision:
"SEGA is committed to supporting any fans that take an interest in our games, and where possible we do so by involving them in Beta tests and other development, marketing or research opportunities. However we need to protect our intellectual property rights and this may result in us requesting that our fans remove online imagery, videos or games in some instances." I wonder why they let these guys toil away on this game for years without saying something about it, it's not like the fact that this game was in development was a secret. They even went to Sega last year in attempt to find a way to legally release the game. I am still holding out hope that they are able to work out a Steam release or maybe even port it to iOS, that is too much good work to let go to waste. Nintendo has announced a sequel to one of the best selling games of all time, Wii Play. Wii Play was a big hit with consumers due to being a great deal. While many video game reviewers couldn't understand the appeal of a $10 batch of fun mini-games bundled with a controller, just about everyone else did. Wii Play: Motion will come with the Wii Remote Plus controller and feature twelve new mini-games that take advantage of added the level of control added by the motion plus device. Look for it in stores June 13th. Via Press Release Jerry Lawson, inventor of the Channel F game system, passed away on Saturday. The Channel F, released in 1976, was the first console with programmable game cartridges. Before that point video game systems only played the games that were built into them, much like the plug and play t.v. games you find in the toy sections of stores today. Last month Lawson was honored by the International Game Developers Association's Minority Special Interest Group at the Game Developers Conference. He will also be fondly remembered for creating one of the first games to hit arcades after Pong, Demolition Derby, which he had made in his garage in the early 70's. Check out Jerry Lawson's wikipedia entry for more information on this gaming great Sony has reached an out court settlement with infamous PS3 hacker George Hotz. Hotz has agreed to a permanent injuction, in which he swears to never hack Sony products again. As for Sony's part of the agreement, Hotz was also absolved of any involvement in the latest round of Playstation Network hackings. Instead of being thankful for the mercy that Sony is showing him, "Geohotz" made a post to his blog claiming that he is now part of the Sony boycott and encouraged others to do the same. Cool story bro.
Did you know that establishments like Sinclair Spirits and Robertson’s Tobaccoria in BioShock were named after staffers Scott Sinclair and Shawn Robertson? Irrational Games is launching a contest that might get your name in Bioshock: Infinite. You could end up as the namesake of a building, a character or whatever else their artists come up with. All you have to do is enter your name and e-mail on the webform located here.
Duck and Cover has gotten the exclusive scoop on new DLC for Fallout: New Vegas. There are a couple of small images and a logo available on their forums for your perusal. The new DLC, titled Honest Hearts, looks like it will once again strip player's items from them, much like the Dead Money expansion. That may be a potential downer for some, but how hard would fighting wasteland savages be if you could always run around in your Enclave armor? A new trailer is said to be coming soon. Source: Duck and Cover The cover of the latest Xbox World 360 seems to indicate that a new Halo game will be going head to head with Gears of War 3 this fall. Will it be 343 Industries' rumored remake of Halo: CE, launching just in time for the franchise's 10th anniversary? I say it is too soon for a remake. After all, CE still looks fairly good. But what better way (and easier) to establish 343 as the new Halo studio than to start with a remake of the first and greatest Halo? I am really looking forward to what this talented new developer can bring to the franchise. Bungie was great, but Halo was quickly becoming stale after being made into a yearly franchise from the same developer. Look forward to a huge e3 reveal. Rumor has it that Microsoft will soon allow developers to launch their games for free on the Xbox Live service, allowing gamers to pay for added content like weapons and clothing items in micro-transactions. This free-to-play methodology has worked great for developers like Zynga, creators of FarmVille, on Facebook and it looks like Microsoft is now trying to take a piece of the social gaming pie for itself. Expect to hear more about this at e3, if not sooner.
Source: IGN It's no secret that Majesco was planning on releasing another entry in the highly successful Cooking Mama franchise, but Gamestop has pretty much confirmed it. The gaming retailer has an entry in their system for Cooking Mama 4, set to grace the 3DS in the near future. Majesco has been dropping hints, such as featuring an official 3DS Cooking Mama Mii bar code on their facebook page, but it looks like hungry 3DS gamers will be able to look forward to the real deal in the coming months.
