Amazon has recently listed a software bundle that includes Limbo, Trials HD and 'Splosion Man in a single box for $30. That is quite a deal considering the trio would cost $40 if purchased separately. Michael Wilford, CEO and co-founder of Twisted Pixel Games, creators of 'Splosion Man, confirmed this bundle on twitter by linking to the Amazon page and saying that the bundle would be coming to North America. Look for this excellent bundle featuring former Summer of Arcade hits in stores April 12th.

The Fatal Frame team over at Tecmo is up to something. Fatal Frame producer Keisuke Kikuchi told Japanese publication Famitsu, "I can't discuss exact details yet, but we are working hard on something right now. I think we'll be able to make an announcement soon, so I hope people look forward to it." Before you brain starts exploding with the possibilities of what this announcement could possibly be, remember that a supposed Fatal Frame 2 remake was shown at a Nintendo conference last year. This announcement is more than likely related to that game. The bigger question is whether or not we will ever see this game in U.S. stores.
Source: 1UP CryTek showed off their next generation engine at last weeks GDC, attempting to court other developers into licensing it for their own games. As you can see, the technology shown is mind blowing. Humans still look like soulless husks, but everything else looks spectacular. And just last week I thought the Battlefield 3 trailer was impressive! I can't wait to see what developers are able to do with this next generation. Microsoft has begun posting job openings regarding the Xbox 360's successor on Linkedin. They are currently looking for a graphics hardware architect, a senior architect and performance engineer, and a senior hardware design verification engineer for the Xbox console architecture group. I think their first order of business should be re-branding the console, Xbox is still one of the worst names that could ever happen to a game console- unless you are a Mountain Dew guzzling extreme gaming teen that is. The graphics hardware architect's responsibilities include "architecture analysis, key technology selection, architecture specification, communication and collaboration with extended Microsoft teams and partner companies." The senior architect will be primarily focused on performance evaluation and modelling. This person will likely be under a lot of pressure since Microsoft will not want to repeat the red ring of death situation that plagued the first half of this console generation. The senior hardware design verification engineer will be in charge of the "design verification and qualification of the Xbox console at the component, motherboard, and system levels."
Now that all that technical jargon is out of the way we can discuss what this means for gamers. How soon will we see a new Xbox? I am thinking it is still at least 2-3 off, seeing as how these job postings suggest the console is in early development. It seems as though Microsoft intends to ride the Xbox 360 out another couple of years on the back of Kinect, so don't worry about having to buy a new console just yet. Adding a little more incentive to buy Ocarina of Time once more, Nintendo has decided to include Master Quest in the package. Nintendo PR rep David Young confirmed this news in a recent interview when discussing the enhancements the 3DS version brought over the Nintendo 64 classic. Master Quest was originally intended to be a Nintendo 64DD title that offered more challenging remixes of the original game's dungeons. It has previously seen limited release in America, available to those who pre-ordered The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. I personally didn't enjoy the new dungeon lay outs as much as I did the originals when I played played Master Quest on the Gamecube, but it is still a neat addition and better value for fans. Look for The Ocarina of Time remake for 3DS in stores this June.
Nintendo is releasing the next wave of Pokémon games upon the world, just weeks before the release of their new handheld. Pokémon Black & White attempt to level the playing field by introducing 150 completely new critters, meaning that everyone starts out on equal footing. None of the older favorites are accessible until the game has been completed. Sure, series fans will be able to exploit the same rock, paper, scissors weakness system, but this is an interesting attempt at keeping things fresh. Also new to the series are 3 on 3 battles and rotation battles, adding an extra level of strategy to the mix. Pokémon is still just as popular as ever in Japan- Black and White currently holds the record for the fastest DS game to reach 5 million copies sold. We'll see if America is still in a Poké frenzy when the game launches tomorrow.
THQ and Gamestop decided to build hype for the publisher's new game Homefront during GDC by releasing 10,000 red ballons with flyers for the game attached. This move was inspired by a method used by South Korea to send messages of hope to the North. Unfortunately the inclement weather forced most of the balloons to sink quicker than expected, resulting in a good deal of them landing in the San Francisco Bay located a few blocks from where they were released. Environmentalists are understandably upset by this situation- but THQ was quick to assure them that the balloons were made out of 100% bio-degradable materials. Despite this revelation the Californian video game publisher is still sending out a clean-up crew since it would still take a while for the balloons and flyers to completely disappear.
Source: SFGate Double Fine is taking a break from making family friendly games like Costume Quest, Stacking, and Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster for Kinect to make a game featuring mechs and a lot of explosions. Trenched is being published by Microsoft Game Studios and will be exclusive to the Xbox Live Arcade service. Watch the trailer by clicking "Read More".
Nintendo showed a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword during Iwata's GDC keynote earlier today- and I have to say it was quite fantastic. It looks like combat will really make you think this time around, forcing you to think about how you attack your enemies instead of just hacking and slashing. If you look closely at the trailer you will see that there is a shield gauge in the the top left corner. Does this mean that your shield takes damage or something else entirely? Also notice that the fairy from the concept art is mapped to the d-pad much like Midna was in Twilight Princess. There is also what looks to be harp mapped to the d-pad at one point in the trailer, which could turn out to be a major element in the game much like the instruments found in other Zelda games. There is another new item equipped during the trailer that looks like a bell, but it could also be a lantern or even the hookshot. The jury is still out who the villain shown in the trailer is- some say it could be Vaati, others say it is a humanoid representation of the gilded sword from Majora's Mask. I say it is someone completely new. In other Zelda related news, Shigeru Miyamoto is supposedly working on something special for Zelda's 25th anniversary- expect to hear more about it during e3.
Nintendo has a bevy of great updates hitting the 3DS by late May, including Netflix compatibility, GameGear and Turbo Graphx-16 games for the handheld's virtual console, and an exciting partnership with AT&T. AT&T is going to provide over 10,000 wireless hotspots around the U.S. for 3DS users to seamlessly connect to the internet with. This is sure to help make the 3DS a device you will want to take everywhere with you, to game, watch movies, and browse the internet on the go.
