Now it makes much more sense why Spider-Man 2099 co-creator Peter David was sitting in on Beenox's roundtable at Wondercon. He is writing the story for Spider-Man Edge of Time, where both present day Spider-Man and his 2099 counterpart's fates are intertwined. Spidey's present day actions will have clear effects on the 2099 version's gameplay. This news is very relevant to my interests, I loved Spider-Man 2099 as a kid growing up in the early 90's.

Monolith's latest RPG, Xenoblade, is finally making it to Europe. The game will feature both English and Japanese voice overs in case the voice acting doesn't turn out to your liking. The game got rave reviews from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu so I am glad that more people will finally get to try it out. The game sounds amazing, the concept of the overworld taking place on the corpses of two ancient gods is pretty... interesting. I hope the fact that this is being translated to English means it will get a U.S. announcement soon, but then again Disaster: Day of Crisis also had an English translation. Hopefully I can update this story soon with some more good news.
Official English Site Update: Nintendo of America has purchased the domain for xenobladechronicles.com, which currently directs you to Nintendo's website. During Grasshopper Manufacture's Grasstream 2 event Suda 51 commented on the possibility of No More Heroes 3, saying that would like to do another one... but not anytime soon. This would make sense given his previous statements about waiting for the Wii's successor to bring out another sequel. That day can't come soon enough, I can't get enough beam katana action!
Nintendo Software Technology, best known for Wave Race: Blue Storm and the Mario vs. Donkey Kong DS games, is an American branch that doesn't seem to have much luck getting games approved. They have had at least two games, Wii Crush and Project H.A.M.M.E.R, cancelled this console generation and now we might have a third to add to that list. They were working on a game where you controlled a motorcycle by using the Wii Remote and nunchuck as handlebars, optionally using the Wii Balance Board to lean in to tight turns. The game was played from the driver's perspective and featured ramps that allowed player's to get some air, further allowing them to manipulate their trajectory with motion controls. It would be an interesting idea to see come to fruition, so I hope the game sees a reveal this e3. But I'm not holding my breath. Source: Siliconera Will Beenox's next attempt at the Spider-Man franchise center around the upcoming movie, or something else entirely? The game is set to be revealed at Wondercon, where a panel of the first game's developers will talk about fan's reactions to the first game and how that will shape the sequel. Also participating in the panel are Peter David, a co-creator of Spider-man 2099 comic book and Josh Keaton, one of the many voices of Spider-Man from Shattered Dimensions. Expect to see new screens and videos of Spidey's latest during the panel scheduled on Saturday April 2nd.
The Wii has been a very successful console, selling nearly 85 million units in its four years on the market. But as the system heads into its fifth year of life things seem to be slowing down a bit, with few quality releases forecast for the rest of 2011. Nintendo probably has some secrets up its sleeve but all we know of right now is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Nintendo has a lot of momentum going in to the next console generation, but can they capitalize on that and make the Wii's successor an even bigger hit than the original? Here are a few things I feel Nintendo needs to incorporate into their next generation console to reach these goals.
Read more here Lilt Line developer Different Cloth has revealed that the game has only reached half of the sales required on WiiWare to be paid for the game by Nintendo. The iOS version sold 3,815 units, whereas US WiiWare sales of just 3,756 copies. The game only costs $2.99 on iPhone and $5 on Wiiware, leaving me surprised that the numbers are as close as they are. I chalk it up to the game's publisher, Gaijin Games, having a small but extremely devoted fan base on the service. If you are interested in retro rhythm action definitely give Lilt Line a shot- I like to give my support to developers who try to provide quality experiences in the mobile space.
Software: 1.) Call of Duty: Black Ops (360, PS3, WII, NDS, PC) 2.) Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (360, PS3) 3.) Just Dance 2 (Wii) 4.) NBA 2K11 (360, PS3, PSP, Wii, PS2, PC) 5.) Dead Space 2 (360, PS3, PC) 6.) Zumba Fitness: Join the Party (Wii, 360, PS3) 7.) Bulletstorm (360, PS3, PC) 8.) Killzone 3 (PS3) 9.) Michael Jackson The Experience (Wii, DS, PSP) 10.) Mario Sports Mix (Wii) Hardware: Xbox 360: 535,000 Wii: 454,000 PS3: 403,000 Things to note: Call of Duty: Black Ops is now the best selling game of all time in the United States, edging out Wii Play which had previously held the record. Microsoft did really well this month, recording the highest non-holiday month sales in the Xbox 360's lifespan. The Fatal Frame team over at Tecmo is up to something. Fatal Frame producer Keisuke Kikuchi told Japanese publication Famitsu, "I can't discuss exact details yet, but we are working hard on something right now. I think we'll be able to make an announcement soon, so I hope people look forward to it." Before you brain starts exploding with the possibilities of what this announcement could possibly be, remember that a supposed Fatal Frame 2 remake was shown at a Nintendo conference last year. This announcement is more than likely related to that game. The bigger question is whether or not we will ever see this game in U.S. stores.
Source: 1UP Nintendo showed a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword during Iwata's GDC keynote earlier today- and I have to say it was quite fantastic. It looks like combat will really make you think this time around, forcing you to think about how you attack your enemies instead of just hacking and slashing. If you look closely at the trailer you will see that there is a shield gauge in the the top left corner. Does this mean that your shield takes damage or something else entirely? Also notice that the fairy from the concept art is mapped to the d-pad much like Midna was in Twilight Princess. There is also what looks to be harp mapped to the d-pad at one point in the trailer, which could turn out to be a major element in the game much like the instruments found in other Zelda games. There is another new item equipped during the trailer that looks like a bell, but it could also be a lantern or even the hookshot. The jury is still out who the villain shown in the trailer is- some say it could be Vaati, others say it is a humanoid representation of the gilded sword from Majora's Mask. I say it is someone completely new. In other Zelda related news, Shigeru Miyamoto is supposedly working on something special for Zelda's 25th anniversary- expect to hear more about it during e3.
